ChordWeaver is a music composition application that focuses on 5-part modern harmony, widely utilized in symphonic scores, cinematic soundtracks, jazz chord progressions, and contemporary songwriting.
ChordWeaver provides a vast array of 3636 chord resolutions and combinations, along with a selection of 10 instruments or ensembles featuring 1920 sound files.
The software incorporates various techniques such as altered chords (or unresolved appoggiaturas), parallel ninths, giant steps, tritone substitutions, bi-tonal ambiguities, in addition to conventional chord progressions.
For composers utilizing ChordWeaver, it offers an expedited and uncomplicated approach to working with modern harmony. It introduces a plethora of innovative possibilities and variations on traditional progressions for others, while serving as a significant time-saving tool for seasoned professionals.
ChordWeaver efficiently guides users through the composition process by allowing them to select a starting chord, presenting multiple resolutions—both traditional and unconventional—and facilitating real-time listening. This process continues with subsequent chord choices.
The application seamlessly suggests various chord options, some familiar and others novel, enabling auditions of the work in progress. It offers functionalities such as transposition, the ability to save compositions as .chords or .mid files, as well as exporting and sharing options.
In addition to playback features on the main system and the ability to improvise with favorite instruments, users can mirror ChordWeaver and import MIDI files into their sequencer to utilize preferred sample libraries for playing back harmonies.
The available chord options within ChordWeaver are the result of extensive study of master composers' scores across different genres. These options are crafted based on the actual applications of these chord progressions and resolutions by renowned composers, rather than solely relying on theoretical concepts.
